DISCiples
History
|
 |
|
DISCiples were brought
together in 1999 by James’ former drum teacher and professional
musician, Tony Smith. Apart from James, we’re
reliving our childhood and on a second wave, this time with the
professionalism, determination and intent we wished we’d
given it before! |

The line up started with
Danny and Hatch who formed the foundation, with Nick joining subsequently, having played with London
function band, “Zone A”. We must acknowledge the contribution
of the other early members, our previous guitarists, Richard Cracknell,
Marc Smith and Nelson. Also our occasional vocalist,
Kathryn Dixon, who made us perfect all those female led songs. |
| After many a rehearsal
in Chobham, the band migrated to Nick’s Millbank
studio in Woking, where the first 6 track CD (“Tried and Tested”)
was recorded and produced and is available to order
from the download page The band soon
realised that the only way to get better was to play live and start
entertaining real audiences, wherever and whenever. Over 300 gigs
later we’ve not looked back and have played venues as diverse as the
Barbican Centre, London, the Intercontinental and Hilton Hotels, Park Lane, the Town Square, Woking (!)
marquees in people's back gardens, Thames Riverboats, Charterhouse School and the Kensington Rooftop, |

The band's commitments and extensive repertoire inevitably lead to further line up changes
since not everyone can combine their day job with the demands of bigger and better gigs. So it was that at the end of 2004
Danny and Amber withdrew and in we're now fielding a fantastic line up featuring some real professionals with
years of gigging experience.
Even so, we treat every new gig as a challenge, an adventure and an opportunity to prove ourselves. We'll learn that special song for your
special occasion. “If
the bar staff are still singing your last number when you’re
packing up your gear, you know it’s been a good night!” |
